Meet the Artist
Isabel Kelly is an American artist who works primarily with object based mixed media. Her favorite methods of making include fiber arts, 3D printing, woodworking, and acrylic painting. The themes she explores in her projects often revolve around a narrative and experimentation. Her art can reveal existing tales, speculative stories of what could be, or moments of daily life. Often times the objects created reveal their narrative through their materials, methods, and embellishments. By evaluating what is visible to us, we can piece together narratives of what life has to share in its details. Experimentation often comes about when integrating a new material, tool, or method of making. These pieces have been shown in their own right as well as in tandem with more finalized projects. It displays the time and care put into a project and in-it-of-itself captures the narrative of the creative process.
Isabel has exhibited in Carlsten Art Gallery (Stevens Point, WI, USA), Casa’s Main Gallery and Platform Gallery (Lethbridge, AB, Canada), Penny Gallery (Lethbridge, AB, Canada), Trianon Gallery (Lethbridge, AB, Canada), and Wriston Art Gallery (Appleton, WI, USA). She has also interned with Third Avenue PlayWorks (Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin, USA) and Degree Art/Artellite (Somerset House London, England). Her BA is from Lawrence University, majoring in Studio Art and Theatre and she earned her MFA in Art at the University of Lethbridge.
Isabel is currently an Associate Lecturer at the University of Wisconsin - Stevens Point.
